Winding your way through the charming Alfama Quarter, you'll find tiny squares and narrow alleyways leading through a maze of whitewashed houses and breath–taking churches. Stop for photos outside the majestic Romanesque cathedral, then soak up stunning views across rooftops of this ancient district from a huge balcony known as the Portas do Sol Viewpoint. Then head into Baixa, the lively downtown area that's bursting with energy. Dotted with grand squares like Comercio and Rossio, it's a shopper's paradise and brimming with neoclassical architecture.
